Unit Description
The Environmental Supervision Unit works with the supervision of environmentally hazardous activities and contaminated areas. We work with various types of heavy industries, contaminated areas, wind farms, and quarries. Supervision guidance to the county's municipalities is also included in the unit's tasks.
The unit consists of 18 people with different backgrounds. We are now looking for an environmental officer who will work with the supervision of environmentally hazardous activities.
Your Tasks
As an environmental officer, you will work with the supervision of environmentally hazardous activities. The work includes reviewing investigations, weighing different perspectives, making assessments, and writing decisions based on legislation. The work also includes planning, conducting, reporting, and following up on supervision visits.
We need to strengthen our group with officers focusing on industries such as incineration plants, chemical production facilities, and waste facilities.
Although the work is largely independent, collaboration within the unit and between different areas of work is required. The work involves many contacts with, among others, operators, individuals, and other authorities. The work also includes guidance to municipal supervisory authorities. The work also means that you will provide support in the County Administrative Board's internal work within your area of expertise.
Other tasks may also become relevant within the framework of the employment. The work as an environmental officer with us spans many different subject and competence areas. There are good opportunities to adapt your role and tasks according to your skills and experience.
The work involves some travel within the county.
Your Qualifications
A post-secondary education is required for the position. We see that you, as a candidate, have one of the following educational backgrounds:
- Natural science education or engineering education at the university level, with a focus on environment, energy, chemistry, water, land, or equivalent.
- University education with a focus on administration, authority exercise, and case management.
- Vocational education as a paralegal or equivalent education with a focus on administration, authority exercise, and case management.
Experience in authority exercise and experience in supervision/control work is meritorious. Particularly meritorious is experience in supervision according to the Environmental Code.
We expect you to be motivated and interested in working at a government authority with authority exercise.
Your personal suitability for the position is important to us. In the recruitment process, we will therefore place great emphasis on your competencies. For the position, it is required that you have good judgment, can make correct assessments and priorities, and clearly and understandably motivate decisions made. You need to be good at collaborating and feel comfortable in external contacts with companies, the public, media, and others who may be affected by our decisions in various matters. You need to be able to combine good collaboration skills with the ability to be self-driven and manage your own cases and tasks.
The work requires that you are clear in your communication and that you can express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing.
The tasks also require good knowledge of handling data in various software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
